Bernie H. Manning Scholarship

"Bernie H. Manning” College scholarship Award was established in honor of the loving memory of the founders’ father.

​

The scholarship award will be granted to an eligible high school senior that has been nominated by a member of Women of Excellence. The scholarship award will be disbursed at the beginning of the fall semester. The maximum amount awarded is $200.00 per approved applicant.

  • Tanesha Waid – Arcadia University, Philadelphia, PA -2013

  • Alexis Holman – Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta, GA-2015

  • Tierra Snead – Johnson C. Smith, Charlotte, NC-2017

  • Dargenae Somerville – Spelman College, Atlanta, GA-2017

  • Amaiya Holman - Towson University, Towson, MD - 2019

  • Jayla Beidleman - University of Maryland Eastern Shore, MD -  Major in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business Administration -2020

  • Jada Daniels - East Carolina University, NC -Double major in Psychology and Criminal Justice- 2020

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Must be a high school senior.

  • Must demonstrate excellence in school work as evidenced by course selection and grades (minimum GPA of 3.0).

  • You must be a full-time, first-year undergraduate student seeking your first baccalaureate degree.

  • Must participate in: extracurricular school activities; community and/or church activities; and school or community athletics.

  • Must demonstrate good character and show interest in and concern for being an active member of society.

  • The scholarship is available to students regardless of race, sex, national origin, or religion.

  • Scholarships are given for one (1) academic year.

  • Scholarship awards will be made out to the recipient’s college/ university and are to be applied to tuition, books, or room and board.

  • Applicants must not have been convicted of any second or subsequent alcohol or drug-related misdemeanor in any state within the past academic year.

  • Applicants must not be in default or owe a refund or repayment on any Federal or State financial aid.
